Anna + Nick // Classic Elegance at Stone Tower Winery

IMG_8861.jpg

A toast to the groom, to the bride!

Anna and Nick were an absolute dream to plan with, and their wedding day at Stone Tower Winery in Leesburg, VA turned out to be just as spectacular.

This consultant bride-to-be shared my deep love for organization and created some of the most (beautifully) intricate wedding spreadsheets I have ever seen on a final countdown engagement! We spent about 18 months chatting about their gorgeous wedding day and all of our planning certainly paid off.

From the wine box ritual that we incorporated into their ceremony, to the beautiful hand-crafted details created by Nick’s father — including the ceremony arch, donut wall, and stunning acrylic signage — we were able to delight their guests with a day of celebration that made both Anna & Nick’s personalities and love for one another shine as bright as their sparkler send-off!

Katelyn had provided personalized recommendations after hearing our priorities and we were so appreciative of these details that had never occurred to us, but really made a difference in our wedding. Our guests are still commenting to us that everything flowed so smoothly and all our decor was beautifully displayed! I was so calm on my wedding day because I was confident that I was in good hands. Katelyn was so wonderful to work with and I so highly recommend working with The Miner Details! She was so respectful of the unique personality of my family, she was there to support any decision we made, and planning with her felt like talking to a friend!

Jackie + Michael // Purple Rain at Woodlawn Pope-Leighey House

untitled-QK1_6143.jpg

Family was at the heart of Jackie & Michael’s wedding day at Woodlawn Pope-Leighey House. Relatives traveled from around the world to celebrate these two budding lawyers as they entered into married life.

Together with The Miner Details, these college sweethearts planned a “perfectly purple” wedding celebration, which incorporated the natural beauty of a classic historic home in Northern Virginia, and an elegant tented reception space. Every single detail, from the delicious cupcakes from Sweet Greene Cupcakery, to the gorgeous florals by Fleurality, created a dreamy atmosphere in the bride’s favorite hue.

The love in the room was positively infectious. So much so, that not even a passing rainstorm (right at the time of our planned outdoor ceremony) could put a damper on the joyous energy of the day.

Watching the all of the female relatives sing the couple in during their grand entrance — a tradition in Jackie’s family — was an unforgettable moment. One that we will always hold dear, too! May there only be the very best in store for these TMD newlyweds!

Katelyn is amazing!!! Despite the craziness of the day, she was there each step of the way. We are beyond grateful for her services!

Nina + Matt // Pretty in Pink at Woodend Sanctuary

You are the mac to my cheese …

Cat-parents to their beloved Dexter - who featured prominently in the details of the day … check out their cutie-pie cake topper - Nina & Matt had an absolutely purrrfect wedding celebration at the idyllic Woodend Sanctuary, which sits just outside of Washington, DC.

Having met on Nina’s first day in DC, this darling couple has spent the past five years doing morning crosswords, having Sunday night ice cream and GoT dates and becoming mac and cheese wonks by sampling at many (many) local haunts.

Their light and airy blush, white & gold color scheme was a perfect compliment to the bright floral touches and twinkle lights that completed the tablescapes. Not to mention the bride’s hot pink ceremony heels!

The joy in the room on Nina & Matt’s wedding day was electric, the kind you only come across very rarely. Helping them to plan and coordinate the details of their celebration of marriage was a true pleasure.

Hiring Miner Details was the best vendor decision we made for our wedding. Working with Katelyn was an absolute dream. She anticipated all of our needs steps ahead of us and helped us execute all of our ideas. Our wedding day was flawless and logistically perfect because of her attention to detail and experience in the field.

Claire + Sam // Winter Glow at the Hotel Monaco

Swipe right for happily ever after …

On one fateful evening in 2014, a simple swipe on a phone screen forever changed the course of history. And out of match on Tinder, an epic love story - the CLAM love story - began.

Flash forward a few years, and technology played a role in Claire & Sam’s proposal too. In fact, it delayed it a few weeks since an emergency fix to a broken laptop took over the agenda for the day Sam had planned to pop the question. When it happened though, it was perfect, and it was time to start planning a high energy celebration of everything that makes this couple so special.

During their January wedding, we transported Claire & Sam’s loved ones to their own personal version of Narnia right here at the Hotel Monaco, in Washington, DC, that not even a government shutdown could put a damper on.

Their elegant navy and gold color scheme was a perfect compliment to the striking quince branch centerpieces and cozy bookworm touches that completed the tablescapes.

Best of all, their wedding day was filled to the brim with personal touches - my favorite thing! From dino cake toppers, to photos & short stories thoughtfully written about some of their most memorable travels together. From the delicious chocolate favors from the groom’s hometown, to glow-everything on the dance floor, we worked to put as much of Claire & Sam’s personalities into their day as possible, and oh what a joy it was to witness!

Katelyn took our busy schedules, abstract ideas, and made them into a beautiful wedding! We hired Katelyn on a Tuesday and by Thursday she had a list of potential venues for us. She had great checklists for us to use as we assessed our vendors so that we’d be thinking of the right questions and identifying what was important to us. She was the perfect balance of keeping us on track and respecting our busy work schedules.

Leslie + Adam // Oktoberfest at St. Francis Hall

Screen Shot 2019-01-24 at 5.30.02 PM.png

Prost to the Newlyweds…

A chance Halloween meeting, at a Capitol Hill dive bar, brought Leslie and Adam together. Little did they know that very spot would eventually serve as the site of their wedding rehearsal dinner just a few years later.

Both avid travelers, this happy couple planned a European getaway, which included a stop in Munich to celebrate a few days of fun at Oktoberfest - a spot Adam decided was perfect for a proposal. And thus, the idea for #coxtoberfest was born.

During their Fall wedding, we transported Leslie & Adam’s loved ones to their own personal Oktoberfest tent right here at St. Francis Hall, in Washington, DC.

Their wedding day was filled with nods to German tradition. A much tastier version of the "log-cutting ceremony" with their cake, a mini-barrel tapping ceremony to officially start the reception, an Oompah band playing cocktail hour and a bridal party decked out in traditional German fashion.

Having been fortunate enough to spend two Oktoberfests in Munich ourselves, planning a reprise at home for Leslie & Adam’s wedding day was a truly unforgettable experience!

My husband and I have said many times over the past year that hiring Katelyn was probably the single best decision we made in planning our wedding, and probably the best value too. She is highly organized, friendly, responsive, and professional, but also goes above and beyond to make sure our wishes and personalities are reflected in her results. I highly recommend Katelyn, in fact I would give more than 5 stars if possible, and will hopefully find an excuse to work with her myself again soon!

Stephanie + Jimmy // Capitol View Wedding Day

Stephanie Jimmy-00 Highlights-0023.jpg

Red, white & something blue …

Stephanie & Jimmy met as summer interns, almost a decade ago, in their home state of New Jersey. Drawn to the magic living inside the Beltway, Stephanie made the decision to stay in DC after her graduation from American University, and Jimmy followed not long after.

Shortly after Jimmy’s move to DC, he proposed on Steph’s favorite holiday - the Fourth of July - at her favorite place, the U.S. Capitol.

It’s no coincidence that their celebration culminated in a reception at 400 Capitol View, overlooking that special spot. Their wedding day featured elegant nods to their adopted hometown, including hand-drawn table numbers depicting sites around Washington, and a bridal party dressed to the nines in shades of red, white and blue.

Katelyn is an absolute life saver when it comes to wedding planning! In the months (more like year) leading up to my wedding she was always available to bounce ideas off of and helped me pull together all of the details to make a perfect ‘DC Chic’ wedding ... My wedding was the absolute best day ever and I couldn’t have done it without her! I highly recommend!

Caitlin + Peter // Rustic Winter Wedding

Love in the room from the floor to the ceiling …

Just days after Christmas, Caitlin and Peter said “I do again” during a beautiful vow renewal ceremony, followed by a picture-perfect reception. Just ask the Father of the Bride, who snapped a selfie during his toast a la Ellen at the Oscars.

Having met at a hometown haunt on Thanksgiving Eve just two years prior, this bride and groom are the definition of a whirlwind romance. In fact, they didn’t even live in the same city until after they said “I do” that first time around.

Love knows no bounds though, and we’re so glad we got to help these two (finally) celebrate in style. From the glowy atmosphere of their ballroom reception, to the rustic details that complimented the season, this gorgeous winter wedding was the perfect way to cap off a fantastic year of planning together.

As someone that is very organized myself, Katelyn blew me away with her ability to plan and execute. From logistics to pep talks, Katelyn covers it all. The best part about working with Katelyn is that she never lets the details and planning take away from the joy of the celebration.

Katelyn + Alex // A well-traveled wedding day

wedding photos-527.jpg

You are my greatest adventure …

We debated whether or not our wedding should feature in the portfolio, but in the end, couldn’t resist showing you where it all began.

Our wedding, fondly dubbed “happily ever binder” by my darling bridesmaids was my first real foray into large scale event planning. And, the most fun I’ve ever had.

The countless spreadsheets, daydreams (and sometimes night terrors) about reception details, hours spent carefully curating the perfect Pinterest inspo board and the never-ending stream of vendor email threads brought out in me what I was born to do.

Not only did I find my perfect life partner, I found my calling too.

For our May wedding, we infused the traditions important to our families with personal touches that showcased our story - particularly our love of travel. Our table numbers were named after places we’d visited, our centerpieces featured old-world mini-suitcases and our guest book was a map marking out places of significance on our journey so far.

We had a cookie bar (as Pittsburgh tradition — and my sweet-tooth of a husband — demanded), more hydrangeas than we knew what to do with and a balloon drop on our dance floor.

It’s a day I’m grateful about for so many reasons, and one that filled me with a joy I’ve never known before. And that is what I aim to deliver to the couples I work with now in my role as a wedding planner. An unforgettable day that exudes who they are and that fills them with happy memories that can last a lifetime.
